Zoe Blaskey
Motherkind is the podcast for women who know that motherhood changes everything — and want to grow forward, not “bounce back”. Hosted by Zoe Blaskey, Motherkind explores the profound personal, emotional and professional transformation that happens when you become a mother. This is a space for women navigating the wild, identity-shifting years of motherhood who want to reclaim confidence, redefine ambition, and build a life that works for who they are now. Each week, Zoe sits down with world-leading experts, thought leaders, psychologists, authors and well-known figures to unpack the real experiences of modern motherhood — from matrescence and identity loss to confidence, boundaries, work, relationships and self-worth. Expect honest conversations, evidence-based insight and practical tools that help you move through this season with clarity and strength. Motherkind is not about doing more, fixing yourself, or returning to who you were before children. It’s about becoming who you are now — with intention, compassion and growth. If you’re a mother who wants to feel more like herself again — confident, grounded and excited about what’s next — this is your place. Motherkind: for the woman behind the mother.

The cost of holding it all together with Anna Mathur
2 черв. 2022 р.50 minWelcome to the Motherkind podcast. The show that is going to help you navigate the massive challenges of motherhood and life with more acceptance, joy, ease and purpose. Thanks to each and every one of you that come back every week to listen, learn and feel inspired. If you love the podcast, please do me a favour and subscribe. It really does help. This week’s guest is the lovely Anna Mathur, psycho-therapist, best-selling author and mum of three. I’m also very grateful to be able to say a good friend of mine and a massive supporter of the podcast. This is Anna’s 3rd time on the show and we recorded this episode to celebrate the launch of her 3rd book the Little Book of Calm for New Mums. It’s a fantastic book and I highly recommend it. Let me ask you a question: How often do you hold it all together, push through and keep it going? I think we all do that to some extent, and in some ways we have to. As Anna shares in the episode, from her own incredibly humbling experience with burnout, there is a cost to doing that and we first need to recognise that and then think differently about what we need to do to support ourselves. Anna is amazing. I know lots of you already know and love her. This is a really powerful episode and I know you are going to love it. As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there. How to take our dreams as mothers more seriously with Helen Glover MBE
5 трав. 2022 р.39 minWelcome to the week’s episode of the podcast. Thank you for being here and pressing play. I really appreciate you. This is a very inspiring episode with the Olympic rower Helen Glover MBE. This story is incredible. After winning gold in Rio in 2016, Helen decided to hang up her rows, step away from rowing, and start a family. She now has 3 children, but the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown brought on a change in perspective. And despite not having stepped foot in a boat since Rio four years earlier, Helen decided to take a shot at a third Olympics in Tokyo. What happens next is incredible. Not because I want to start rowing or because I want to be a leading sportswoman, but because this episode is really about taking our dreams very seriously as mothers. And I think that is something we don’t do enough. It is being really intentional about the trade-offs we are willing to make for the big things we want to do in life. I ask her at the end what is harder: training for the Olympics or motherhood. I think her answer will surprise you. I hope you love this episode. As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there. After stepping away from rowing to get married and have three children, Helen returned to the team in 2021 with the goal of being the first mother to compete for the GB Rowing Team. Glover only took up rowing in 2008 and won a historic gold medal at the Olympic Games in London just four years later. Her outstanding women’s pair partnership with Heather Stanning became the first British female rowers to successfully defend an Olympic title when they won gold at Rio 2016. That completed a perfect Olympiad for Glover in the pair – she won every race she competed in and claimed a hat-trick of world titles, one with Polly Swann and two with Stanning. How to be more confident with Lauren Currie OBE
14 квіт. 2022 р.52 minMy guest this week says that we need a confidence revolution for women. She says we need to change confidence not women. The old way, when we were told to be more confident, it was to be in the same manner as our male counterparts. What if there was a totally different way to be confident as a woman? Lauren Currie OBE is the founder of Upfront and she is on a mission to change confidence for 1 million women by 2023. She is also the trustee and chairperson for the incredible charity, Pregnant Then Screwed. And in 2017 she was awarded an OBE for her service in design and diversity. I am so excited for you to listen to this episode. I believe as mothers we all need more confidence in ourselves, in our dreams, and in our ability to mother exactly the way we want to. Imagine if doubt could be replaced with more confidence. Even just by 1%. Imagine the impact that would have on you and your life. This episode is going to help you to do that. In this episode you’ll learn about: Confidence doesn't need to look like being the loudest in the room - it's feeling more and more comfortable with who you really are Women have a reluctance to celebrate themselves and their work - we need practice doing it, so it becomes easier How Lauren is raising a feminist son and what we can all learn from her The vital, missing link between equality and women's confidence How to unlock your innate confidence - to feel more capable of achieving whatever it is you want to in life "Repeat after me, I am a confident woman speaking up for myself"- Lauren Currie As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there. MOMENT | Do THIS when your child has a melt down with Kate Silverton
4 квіт. 2022 р.6 minWelcome back to Motherkind Moment. Moment is your place on a Monday for calm and connection and maybe even a shift in perspective before the week ahead. This week’s moment is with presenter and journalist Kate Silverton. Kate is also the author of the incredible book called No such thing as naughty. This is a very short and powerful clip about how we can handle our children’s meltdowns. I hope it helps you this week. It has already helped me this morning. Listen to the full episode here. ABOUT KATE SILVERTON In 25 years as a journalist, Kate Silverton has become one of the BBC’s leading and most popular broadcasters. She has produced and presented numerous documentaries, including for the BBC’s flagship current affairs programme Panorama. She has come under fire on the frontline in Iraq and Afghanistan, covered the glamour of the Oscars in Hollywood, and stepped out beneath the glitter ball herself as a contestant for the BBC’s much-loved entertainment show, Strictly Come Dancing. Kate has spent decades interviewing leading figures throughout the world, from politicians through to celebrities and scientists. Throughout it all, Kate’s lifelong passion has been to advocate for children and their emotional well-being. Her academic roots are in child development with a BSc in psychology and, after having children of her own, Kate decided to retrain as a child psychotherapist. She now combines her career in journalism with her studies, currently volunteering as a counsellor on placement working with children at a London primary school. Philanthropically, for many years she has supported charities like Place2Be, the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, as well as the NSPCC and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Royal Foundation. Kate’s counselling work with children, her own personal experience of psychotherapy and the interviews she has conducted with world-renowned psychiatrists, neuroscientists and psychotherapists have all informed her approach and the concept she has devised for this book. Her philosophy is, ‘If we get it right from conception to five, we can set our children up for life.’ Her passion is to share what she has learned with as many parents as she can, to help them to have the parenting experience they always hoped to have, and for their children to have the parenting experience they deserve.
