Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, says cash is "guaranteed almost to have the worst return over the longer period of time" because inflation eats it away at 3.5 to 4% per year, and even earning interest doesn't keep pace after taxes. He walks through every option available to the average person. Cash feels safe but loses value every year. Stocks can grow but crash 60 to 70% in a bear market.
