Keir Starmer resigns as Prime Minister, one day before the ten-year anniversary of the Brexit referendum. His successor, Andy Burnham is Britain's seventh prime minister in a decade. Two years ago, we asked whether Brexit was worth it. Now the decade of data is in. The UK economy has grown about 13% since the referendum, less than half the pace of the United States. Bloomberg Economics puts the cost at around £100 billion in lost output every year. Around 16,400 small firms have stopped exporting to the EU entirely. Britain's share of global foreign investment has fallen from 8.6% to 7% while America's climbed to 25%. And the one thing Leave voters were promised, control, never materialized: net migration tripled to a record 906,000 before crashing to 171,000, and Westminster has burned through prime minister after prime minister. Meanwhile, the country is quietly walking parts of the deal back. The May 2025 reset agreement with Brussels commits Britain to dynamic alignment with EU rules it no longer votes on, EU fishing access until 2038, and a youth mobility scheme that looks a lot like free movement with a cap. Today, 50% of Britons say they would vote to rejoin. Just 30% still think leaving was the right call. This is the story of what ten years of taking back control actually delivered: to Britain's trade, its money, its immigration system, and its politics. 00:00 - Intro 01:47 - The Trade Decade 08:05 - The Missing Money 12:06 - Control Includes music by Tom Fox – tomfox.site
