<p>This week's Over The Farm Gate marks the launch of the Farmers Guardian campaign #FarmingCAN for another year, which aims to highlight the pivotal role agriculture plays across wider society.</p><p>This month we look at unravelling sustainability – a ‘buzz word’ in many conversations concerning agriculture at the moment. </p><p>Beef, sheep and arable farmer Tom James, sheep and dairy farmer Nia Davies and dairy producer Bruce Mackie delve into what the term means to them and their farming systems at home. </p><p>What is clear is that sustainability for these farmers is all-encompassing; aside from the more obvious environmental element, equally important is efficiency, productivity and succession planning which also have an important role in securing these farming businesses for future generations.</p><p>Agricultural groups have appealed to ministers to put food and farming at the forefront of the new Natural History GSCE which was unveiled recently.
