Bishop Rainey Cheeks, the Taekwondo black belt-turned ordained minister who built a church and a famous nightclub that welcomed people in desperate need of his grace, has died at 74. In 1993, Cheeks opened Inner Light Ministries, establishing Washington, D.C.’s first Black church to welcome LGBTQ members. Sunday TODAY’s Willie Geist remembers a life well lived.
