Sobre este vídeo

The signals that precede major crises are rarely hidden, they're just spoken by people institutions have decided aren't worth hearing. Through three examples spanning the 2008 financial crisis, the Me Too movement, and the Arab Spring, this talk shows that the truth consistently arrives early, through culture, through marginalised communities, through voices that never get counted as data. The next unknown is already broadcasting itself. Sarah Pereira is a third-year Aerospace Engineering student who spends equal time studying the mechanics of flight and the mechanics of how the world misses what is right in front of it. Her TEDx talk asks a simple but uncomfortable question: if the next crisis is already visible in the culture, why do we keep being surprised? From the underground economy to grassroots movements to the music of revolutions, this talk traces the signals that were always there, spoken by the people nobody thought to ask. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
